P.S. Shearer received his B.S. (1912) and M.S. (1928) in Animal Science from Iowa State College (University). After a brief time at the University of Nebraska, Shearer returned to Iowa State as an Assistant Professor (1913-1915), Associate Professor (1915-1919), and Professor (1919-1978) in Animal Husbandry, and also served as Dept. Head (1935-1954). Shearer was considered to be a leading judge of beef cattle in the U.S. and is credited with the founding of Iowa State's livestock judging competi...
